Abstract

The phenomenon of Educative Terminal Efficiency was addressed in the programs of licentiate and engineering, generation 1995-2002, and its relation with the characteristics of the academic life of the URACCAN University, Las Minas Campus, based specifically on Siuna. With the generation that was studied, eight careers were develop in the licentiate level, with a general registration of 743 students; from these 257 students fulfilled their academic plans and 233 graduated. The graduate efficiency was of 31%, which meant that only three out of ten students who entered got their title. It is outstanding that the women representing the student sector has the highest graduation rank. The 1995 cohort is the most efficient in terms of students that fulfilled their academic plans and also those who graduated, with 63 and 57 percent respectively. The career with the best level of graduates was Sociology, with 36%, and the one with the least level was engineering in Animal Science, with 18%. Only 29% among the ages of 24 to 26 years graduated, the others were between their 27 to 58 years. Regarding the causal factors, these were located on the academic, economic, institutional and social level.
